    Landowner Summit
    Friday October 11, 2019
Washington County Fairgrounds Event Center, Brenham

The Gideon Lincecum Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalist is pleased to present the Landowners Summit on Friday, October 11, 2019 at the Washington County Fairgrounds Event Center in Brenham.  The program will focus on a number of issues common for landowners in the area.  As landowners navigate the joys and responsibilities of owning a piece of Texas there are often many questions about what to do, how to do it best, when to do things, and of course why.  The goal of the summit is to provide landowners answers to those questions and provide attendees an opportunity to network with other landowners and experts.

Kicking off the morning will be a presentation on Landowner Liability by Tiffany Dowell Lashmet, Agricultural Law Specialist with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service.  Tiffany will walk landowners through the five key steps to protecting themselves and their property.  Dr. John Tomecek will discuss understanding the ecosystem of your property and provide attendees with management practices to implement to improve habitat, better understand grazing management and wildlife relationship, and help landowners understand invasive verses non-invasive species of plants, animals, and pests.  Following a morning break, Jacob Hetzel will provide a presentation on feral hogs and nuisance animal control.  The afternoon sessions will walk landowners through riparian area management and erosions control while including a demonstration activity with a STREAM trailer.  The final presentation of the day will be presented by Master Naturalists and Mole and Gopher Control Expert Mr. BR Koehler.

The summit will offer a minimum of three (3) continuing education units, and up to a potential of 5 CEUs pending TDA approval, to all licensed pesticide applicators in attendance for the duration of the program.  Preregistration for the summit is now open and accepted online at https://washington.agrilife.org/summit.  Preregistration is $30/person on or before October 8, 2019 and $40/person from October 9th through the morning of the event.  All proceeds from the summit benefit the Gideon Lincecum Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalists Scholarship Fund.  Checks can be made payable to GLC-TMN and delivered to the Washington County Extension Office, 1305 E Blue Bell Road, Brenham, Texas 77833.  The registration fee includes a meal, conference proceedings, and refreshments throughout the summit.

For additional information about the Landowners Summit please call the Washington County Extension Office at (979) 277-6212.
