WELCOME TO ADVENTURE 290!
Embark on an adventure as you drive along Highway 290! So often we drive right by cool sites, historic places, and quaint little communities without ever knowing about them, especially along Highway 290 between Austin and Houston. #Adventure290 has been created to help you discover those gems and award you a prize for doing so!
Eight communities along Highway 290 have created a Scavenger Hunt to help you see cool things along the way. There is a designated stop in each community where you’ll gather information for your Passport. Once you’ve completed the adventure, mail in your Passport for a fun bag of goodies! (Limit one bag of goodies per person)

The grave of a Texas Ranger, a French bistro and the oldest continually
operating cotton gin in the nation – these are just a few of the special
characteristics of Burton!
If you’re up for a good steak, antique shopping, or basketball history, Carmine is a great place to explore.
The beautiful Lee County courthouse, designed
in 1899, the Fletcher-Schubert House Museum, and more than 30
restaurants are excellent reasons to make a stop in Giddings.
Giddings Event Calendar
Today a quiet community honoring the delicious watermelon with an annual festival, McDade was once the home of notorious outlaws and vigilante justice.
Paige is a small, but bustling community in a
beautiful rural setting amidst the Lost Pines of Central Texas – a
lovely place for a bit of history and a burger!
