Christmas Concert for Peace

Festival Hill Concert Hall in Round Top

A Christmas Concert for Peace features an extraordinary group of performing artists in Texas’ most beautiful concert venue. The Friday, December 22nd, 7:30 p.m. event at the Festival Hill Concert Hall in Round Top includes performances by Grammy-winner Shawn Colvin, All-Star guitarist David Pulkingham, Texas Singer-Songwriters Darden Smith and Joey McGee, New Orleans musician Crispin Schroeder, acclaimed world music band Atash, and the Paul English Jazz Quartet with David Caceres and Kamil Bonner.  The evening will also spotlight a spoken Word for Peace by Veteran and Academy-Award nominated screenwriter William Broyles, Jr. (Apollo 13, Cast Away, China Beach).

The concert is underwritten by the members and friends of Saint Cecilia’s, a creative spiritual community recently formed in Round Top, whose core mission celebrates the arts and supports musicians and music. One hundred percent of the proceeds will benefit three non-profit and non-governmental organizations working for peace in the Middle East: The Middle East Peace Alliance, The Parents Circle, and Combatants for Peace.

Quotes: “The Concert for Peace could not come at a more important time. Wars are devastating Europe and the Middle East. Conflict seems to be everywhere. I know from firsthand experience that in war, the most powerful weapon is not the gun or the bomb but the mind that sees other human beings as enemies, less than human, the Other – and lets us pull the trigger or push the button.” William Broyles, Jr.
