Winedale Online Talk:
“Friend or Foe: The Legacy of African Americans
in the Texas Revolution.”
Tuesday, March 5, 2023 at 12 noon

The Texas Revolution is well chronicled. However, for the five thousand or so African Americans in Texas at the time, the war provided little opportunity. Did African Americans help the Texians win the war for independence hoping to be given land of their own, or did they help the invading Mexican army hoping they would be rewarded with emancipation? Just how were African Americans involved in the war, and what should be the legacy of their involvement? Dr. W. Dale Weeks will explore these and other questions as he presents “Friend or Foe: The Legacy of African Americans in the Texas Revolution.”

This online talk will be on Tuesday, March 5th at noon. E-mail tricia.blakistone@austin.utexas.edu for the link to this zoom talk.
