The Briscoe Center for American History at Winedale and the Round Top Family Library FYI invite you to join a virtual ZOOM lecture on Tuesday, November 17 at noon: “Old 300: Gone to Texas”
Although most Texans have heard of Austins Old 300, a lot of what people think they know is more fiction than fact. The first American families into Texas in the early 1820s represent a more diverse story than many people were taught in school. And this time fact is even better than fiction! Dr. Paul N. Spellman, Professor of History at Wharton County Junior College in Richmond, is the author of ten books and numerous articles on Texas History, including the seminal Old 300: Gone to Texas. He holds degrees from Southwestern University, UT-Austin, A&M-Corpus Christi, SMU, and University of Houston.
