Since ancient times flowers, herbs and other plants have been
used as a symbolic means to convey feelings and as a means of
communication. The ancient Romans crowned great poets and
successful warriors with bay laurel as a symbol of glory.
Shakespeare's Ophelia reminds us that pansies are for thoughts
and that rosemary is for remembrance. But it was the
Victorians that brought this language to a greater height and
turned the act of giving flowers into an art form. Through books
and live floral examples you will learn how to convey your
feelings with the language of flowers and won't have to utter a
single word.
