The Adventure 290 Trail is composed of towns located along Hwy 290 between Houston and Austin and our goal is to provide visitors with interesting things to do and see along the way!

Brenham

Located in Washington County, Brenham is the heart of Bluebonnet Country. Home of Bluebell Creameries. Brenham has a lot of history and things to do include an Antique Rose Emporium, Heritage Home Tours, parks, museums, antique carousel and art galleries.

Burton

Burton was founded in 1870 by German immigrants. The Cotton Gin is the largest internal combustion engine of its vintage still in operation, you can see it in action at the Cotton Gin Festival. See the Visitor's Center located in a historic depot. Nails Creek State Park is also nearby for outdoor enthusiasts.

Carmine

If you're up for a good steak and some antique shopping, Carmine is a great place to start. Then visit the Basketball Museum and stroll through the lovely Muehlbrad Albers City Park.

Chappell Hill

Amid beautiful scenery and rolling hills, Chappell Hill has many historic homes, shops and buildings. Most are located on Main Street downtown. Cut your own lavender and walk through the fragrant fields at the Chappell Hill Lavender Farm.

Elgin

Enjoy a historic walking tour in Elgin and the Elgin Depot Museum. If you're a railroad fan, visit the Chamber of Commerce located in an 1872 H&TC freight depot. Elgin is known for it's sausage and bricks and bears the title of "Sausage Capital of Texas." Every October the town celebrates with the annual Hogeye Festival where you're sure to find a pigtivity that's just right.

Giddings

Giddings is located about 30 miles from over a dozen fascinating rural Texas towns, making it a perfect "gateway to rural Texas." In Giddings you can visit the beautiful Lee County Courthouse, designed by J.Riley Gordon or the Fletcher-Schubert House Museum. Dine on delicious BBQ or at any of the 30+ local restaurants.
